Ghent, Kentucky sits along the Ohio River in Carroll County. As of 2013, the population was 324 residents. Ghent is located 8 miles northeast of Carrollton, Kentucky.

Ghent was settled in the 1790s, but was originally named McCool’s Creek Settlement. It wasn’t until 1814 that the town was laid out and Henry Clay suggested the name of Ghent. The city of Ghent, Netherlands (now in Belgium) was where the treaty ending the War of 1812 was signed.
