CIN-DAY Corridor

The Martinsville and Clark Township Fire Department serves the village and surrounding region. The nearest hospitals are Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington 16 miles away, or Clermont Mercy 19 miles away in Batavia providing emergency, obstetrics and both inpatient and outpatient care.

Canoeists will enjoy the East Fork of the Little Miami River that winds its way through southern Clinton County. Outdoor enthusiasts will find Cowan Lake State Park to the north, or head south to the Indian Creek Game Preserve in nearby Brown County.

Unless you’re shopping for country antiques and farm-related items at the Copper Pig, you’ll need to hop in the car to do any shopping, with either Blanchester, Fayetteville or Wilmington your next stop.

The tiny half-mile wide village of Martinsville at 440 residents serves as a great country setting for many who commute to Wilmington to work each day. If you like neighbors nearby but not just yards away, this village is for you. The quite country surroundings allow you room for gardening, farming, and outdoor pursuits. The Society of Friends, the Quakers, hold The Newberry Monthly Meeting in Martinsville. The present meeting house built in 1883, is also popular with genealogists, who research the large Quaker graveyard behind the meeting house.

60 minutes northeast of Cincinnati, Martinsville’s primary transportation routes are St. Rt. 28, and Ohio Rt. 134.  Nearby commuter airports are Red Stewart Airfield in Waynesville 17 miles away, Clinton Field in Wilmington 19 miles away, and Cincinnati Lunken Airport. Greater Cincinnati International Airport is about 75 minutes away.

You’ll need to hop in the car to do any shopping, with either Blanchester, Fayetteville or Wilmington your next stop.

Don’t speed too fast along St Rt. 28 outside Blanchester or you just might miss the village of Midland. With only 265 residents the village is small, but mighty. In Midland time slows down and there’s plenty of opportunities to garden, explore hobbies or just sit and visit with the neighbors.

Midland

55 minutes northeast of Cincinnati, Midland’s primary transportation routes are St. Rt. 28, and 68.  Nearby commuter airports are Red Stewart Airfield in Waynesville 17 miles away, Clinton Field in Wilmington 19 miles away, and Cincinnati Lunken Airport. Greater Cincinnati International Airport is about 65 minutes away.

Wilmington Fire Department provides fire and EMS coverage for the city and surrounding areas. Clinton Memorial Hospital offers a full range of medical services, including emergency, cardiology, acute care, oncology, rehabilitation services, home care and even a sleep lab. Long-term care facilities, community mental health services and public health services in the area serve the county as well.

Numerous events take place throughout the year here, including Quaker Heritage Days and Christmas in Downtown Wilmington.  When not enjoying the numerous activities in Wilmington’s busy social scene, residents can enjoy golf at one of the many nearby courses. Outdoor enthusiasts have a lot of choices from the city’s numerous horse competitions to hiking and biking. Wilmington’s section of the county’s 29 miles of bike/hike trails is officially named "The Luther E. Warren Peace Path". Nearby state parks Caesars Creek, and Cowan Lake lure boaters and fisherman alike. Cherry Bend Pheasant Farm, just outside Wilmington is the premier pheasant hunting preserve in southwest Ohio. Add in some regional festivals such as the Clinton County Fair held annually each July, the Banana Split Festival each June, and the Corn Festival every September and you’ll see why so many have chosen to call Wilmington home.

Wilmington is the shopping Mecca of the county offering four shopping centers equipped with numerous grocery, retail and specialty stores, in addition to those located downtown. Shops at the Mill feature numerous antique dealers under one roof, perfect for those on the lookout for crafts and collectibles.

The “Heart of Clinton County”, Wilmington has a population of more than 12,400 and acts as the region’s civic, cultural and entertainment destination. Rate one of America’s “100 Best Small Towns”, it’s easy to see why Wilmington also carries the nickname – “The Most Livable Neighborhood” from a 1995 Cincinnati Magazine competition. The magazine declared Wilmington the best for its friendliness, education, shopping and many more attributes.  It’s home as well to the regional office of the National Weather Service that oversees forecasts for Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Because of the classical designs of its downtown, parts of the movie ”Lost in Yonkers” was shot here in 1992. Both newly built housing and turn of the century homes abound in Wilmington.

Wilmington

Situated at the center of Clinton County, Wilmington sits at the crossroads of St. Rts. 68 and 22, and Ohio Rts. 73,134 and 730 making it easy to reach from just about anywhere in the county. About an hour drive from Cincinnati along I71, Wilmington sits 15 minutes off the interstate.

Highland District Hospital is located in Hillsboro on North High Street with over 340 medical professionals.

The City of Hillsboro has 6,600 residents. Founded in 1807, the area grew rapidly during the mid 1800s since it was a stop for two separate railroad lines. The town area was the center for its agricultural trade and most of the town’s businesses such as flour and lumber, supported the farmers in the near countryside.

The community celebrates the Festival of the Bells each July Fourth weekend to commemorate a past time when the city produced steel alloys bells that were shipped worldwide. Shaffer Park has baseball fields and leagues for those who play this sport. Rocky Fork State Park offers boating on is 2,080-acre lake as well as fishing, hiking and picnicking. Hillsboro has a cinema in town.

There are many local as well as nationally known restaurants in Hillsboro. For shopping needs there are quite a few local stores for every day needs. It is a 30-minute drive to Milford, Chillicothe or Washington Courthouse for more shopping opportunities. Cincinnati is approximately a one-hour drive.

Hillsboro has many sizes of homes of various styles and ages from older, farm-style residences to newly constructed homes. One finds many beautiful examples of Victorian homes in Hillsboro. There are also opportunities to live on farm-sized lots.

Hillsboro

Hillsboro is located off State Routes 50 and 62. The closest interstate is I-275.

The Clarksville Village Fire Department serves the emergency needs of the village. Just 11 miles away in Wilmington is Clinton Memorial Hospital; Greene Memorial Hospital is 20 minutes away in Xenia.

Clarksville is home to the Camp Joy Outdoor Recreation Center. Gulley Park and Trails is located on Middleboro Drive. Nearby Cowan Lake State Park offers a peaceful setting replete with scenic inlets laden with the American Lotus water lily. Swimming, fishing, sailing and canoeing are popular on the lake and draw recreation lovers from the entire county.

Sutton’s Market and Deli provides the quick shopping needs of the village, but a more extensive shopping life requires a jump in the car to head to either Wilmington or Lebanon.

The village of Clarksville sits in west-central Clinton County straddling the Warren County line. Just seven miles from the county seat of Wilmington, the village enjoys the beautiful land along Todd’s Ford Creek. Many of the area’s early residents were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). They played an important role in the Underground Railroad helping runaway slaves find freedom. An important Quaker cemetery is located just outside the village. Because of its easy reach to Interstate 71, the area is experiencing a small housing boom with homes range from mini-farms to handsome executive homes springing up. Not only is this a great place to raise and ride horses as so many homeowners do, it’s also the home of Wild Rose Llamas ranch.

Clarksville

40 miles from Cincinnati, Clarksville is minutes outside Lebanon Ohio. Ohio Routes 132, and 133 and 350 provide the primary access through the village.

Kathryn Hanlon Park has 40 acres and is located in Georgetown with features such a walking trails, play ground, picnic areas and soccer fields.

Hamersville is located in the township and has a few local shops. Georgetown has many stores and restaurants including charming antique shops.

There are many older homes in the township with a majority of them built from 1950-1980s.
