The county seat of Brown County, Georgetown is the center of activity for the county. Situated in largely flat south-central Brown County, 3800 call the seven miles of Georgetown home. It’s a lively village centered around the busy life at the Greek Revival styled Brown County Courthouse. With more than just the charm of small town life, a rich cultural life keeps everyone busy. Internationally known wildlife artist John Ruthven lives and works in Georgetown. During the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976 Georgetown’s Historic District was placed in the National Register. Georgetown’s downtown features classic Victorian Italianate and Federal buildings side by side with neighboring traditional ranches and modest frame homes.
Transportation
St. Rt. 125 bisects Georgetown 45 miles from Cincinnati. U.S. Rt. 68 winds north from the eastside of Georgetown through Mount Orab and Fayetteville. Brown County Airport just outside town serves not only Georgetown but also the entire county. Lunken Airport is 34 miles away in eastern Cincinnati; Greater Cincinnati International Airport is about an hour drive.

Georgetown Fire Department provides fire and EMS service to the village. Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown serves the needs of the county and surrounding villages.
Shopping
Daily needs are easily met in this growing community, from groceries to clothes to appliances, with major shopping centers in Anderson Township 45 minutes away, or Wilmington in Clinton County.
Recreation
Georgetown is the center for activities in Brown County from performing arts, to theater and music. Several outdoor festivals enliven the summer months, including the Brown County Fair, a Bluegrass Festival and the Antique Machinery Show. Four golf courses near Georgetown help residents wile away a few hours; birding and butterfly enthusiasts frequent the Grant Lake Wildlife Area. The 40-acre Kathryn Hanon Park provides a walking trail, playground, ball fields and picnic areas. Georgetown is just minutes away from the Ohio River for boating and recreational activities. Not only does it offer college courses for the region, the Southern Hills Joint Vocational School hosts frequent cultural events.
