Camp Dennison was founded in 1796 by Christian Waldschmidt along with a group of German immigrants and was called Germany. It was renamed Camp Dennison during the Civil War when it became a military training camp. It later became a hospital camp and was named after Ohio Governor William Dennison. The Waldschmidt House Historical Museum and the Camp Dennison, Ohio Civil War Museum are both in Camp Dennison. Camp Dennison is just five minutes from Milford or Terrace Park, and just 10 minutes east of both Montgomery and Madeira.
Transportation
Queen City Metro makes its nearest stops just five minutes away in either Milford or Terrace Park and there are numerous buses that service the area throughout the day. You can be downtown in about 15 to 20 minutes by traveling west on scenic U.S. Route 50, the last several miles of which offer a breathtaking view of the Ohio River and surrounding hills.

Bethesda North Hospital is approximately 15 minutes away in Montgomery.
Shopping
Kenwood Towne Centre is just 10 minutes away and has about 100 stores, including large department stores, unique specialty stores, a movie theater, food court and several restaurants. Eastgate Mall and its surrounding shopping area are about 10 minutes away in the other direction and has everything from major department stores to small specialty stores.
Recreation
Camp Dennison Memorial Park is a new complex that features baseball and soccer fields, playground areas and a walking/bike trail. In addition, the Little Miami Bike Trail (also called the Loveland Bike Trail) runs through Camp Dennison and stretches for 60 miles, beginning in nearby Milford and going all the way to Yellow Springs, Ohio.
